Dr.Sharique Athar Ali was born in Jabalpur, India on the 28th of December, 1957, to highly educated parents, Prof M A Ali (MA English, Urdu, Persian, BT and LLB) and Mrs Siddiqua Begum (MA Urdu).Dr Sharique studied Chemistry, Zoology and Botany for his BS and got his Masters in Animal Physiology ( having throughout first class academic career) from the 170 year old Institute, King Edward College,  Amravati MS, (Government Institute of Science and Humanities), Nagpur University in 1978.

He got the prestigious National Fellowship for his PhD in Nuclear Medicine from BARC ( Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Department of Atomic Energy, Trombay) and completed his Doctorate in Bioscience in 1983 from Bhopal University, now Barkatullah University Bhopal.

He was appointed as Lecturer in Physiology in 1983 at Saifia College of Science, Bhopal and presently is Principal, Saifia Postgraduate College of Science, along with being,Professor  and  Head of the PG Department of Biotechnology,Saifia College of Science Bhopal India.

He was conferred with the Young Scientist Award by Government of MP and DST (1987) followed by the prestigious International Young Scientist UNESCO Award (1987-88) in Environmental Biotechnology. He has successfully guided 50 students for their PhD and over 150 Masters Dissertationsin Zoology, Bioscience and Biotechnologywith  their cent percent global placements.

Dr. Ali has published  about 175  full research papers in reputed  Scopus, Web of Science & Pub Med Journals like The British Journal of Pharmacology (John Wiley & Sons), Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology (Blackwell), Phytochemistry, Cytokine, Viral Epidemiology, BMC Infectious Diseases, Food Science Technology (Elsevier), Cell & Molecular Biology (Verlag), Journal of Receptors and Cell Transduction, In Vitro Biology, Bulletin Contamination Toxicology (Springer), Planta Medica (Thieme, UK), Journal of Experimental Botany, Environmental Conservation (Cambridge), Pharmacologia, ActaBiologicaHungarica, Natural Product Research, Pharmaceutical Biology, (Springer), National Academy of Science (Springer), Current Science,Experimental Biology and many others.

Dr. Ali has also published several general articles of general interest   in The Times of India, Nature USA, Readers Digest, Current Science, Science Reporter, Everyman’s Science and Environmental Conservation, Cambridge, UK and has also given more than 20 TV and Radio talks on National TV& All India Radio, India on popular scientific topics. He has also delivered about 50 invited talks all over the country and in many universities in the US, UK, KSA, France,Pakistan and Germany.

Dr. Ali has also filed one patent through National Research Development Corporation,GovtOf India New Delhi and has also got gene sequencing credits. He has visited several countries like the USA, UK, Germany, Franceand many others on academic assignments several times.He has successfully completed several major research projects in Biology & Medicine, including the prestigious (PL-480) US Department of Agriculture, OICD International Research Program.

Dr.Sharique Ali is Editor in Chief of an international peer reviewed journal, Bioscience Biotechnology Research Communications (BBRC) and  is on the editorial boards  of many international journals, member of board of studies of Biotechnology,Biochemistryand PhD examiner of various universities in India. Dr.Aliis  ElectedFellow of several societies of science has also been conferred Fellowships of Royal Society of Biology(UK) and Carl  Linnaeus Society of London, UK Fellow of  Society for Science & Nature, India for his outstanding contribution to science and technology.

Dr.Sharique is married to Dr. Ayesha Ali, Ph.D., CSIR Fellow, Professor of Zoology and has two well settled children.

Prof Ali  has achieved  all these academic distinctions as a faculty  member of a Private Government aided College of MP,Saifia College, Bhopal India.
